Banana Man Counter Argument

You all have heard Ray Comfort's argument to get you to say you are a sinner. He always asks it smugly like he invented some brilliance. Here is a review.

HIS SET UP
Have you ever stolen anything? What do you call a person who steals things? A thief.
Have you ever lied? What do you call a person who lies? A liar.
Have you ever lusted after another person? Jesus says you are an adulterer because you have lust in your heart.
Have you ever used God's name in vain? What do you call a person who takes God's name in vain? A blasphemer?
HIS CONCLUSION
By your own admission you are a lying, blaspheming, adulterous thief.

I have my own questions

Does the Bible say God lied?

1 Kings 22:19-22 - God plots murder by lying
Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the host of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left. And the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?’
“One suggested this, and another that. Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “‘By what means?’ the LORD asked. “‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said. “‘You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the LORD. ‘Go and do it.’
2 Thessalonians 2:11 - God lies to entrap people so he can condemn them
For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
Matthew 24:33-35 - Jesus lies about when he will return
Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Does the Bible say God ever killed anyone?

Genesis 6:7-8 - God kills all living things in the Flood
The LORD said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
Exodus 12:29-30 - God kills all of Egypt's firstborn
At midnight the LORD struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead.
Isaiah 13:15-18 - God foretells he will cause women to be raped and innocent children to be killed
Whoever is captured will be thrust through; all who are caught will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives ravished. See, I will stir up against them the Medes, who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold. Their bows will strike down the young men; they will have no mercy on infants nor will they look with compassion on children

Did God ever commit adultery?

Luke 1:26-27, 34-35 - God impregnates a woman betrothed a Joseph
In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
"How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

Did God ever dishonor his mother?

Matthew 12:46-50
While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”
He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

ALTERNATIVE CONCLUSIONS
  • Then by God's own admission he is a sinner.
  • Then why would I want a lying, disrespectful, adulterous murderer to save me?
  • Then who will save this lying, disrespectful, adulterous, murderous sinning god?
