Women...Shut Up !!!!

The Bible tells me women should know their place.

1 Timothy 2:11-15

A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
Eve isn't bright, eh. She was deceived. Oh poor little girl you need a big strong man to take care of you. You ain't as smart as we is. We knowingly do stupid sh*t. What a BS game the authors of the bible play.

Religion And Women - Still today?

Some say the Bible and monotheist religions honor women. But then again they say God is good. Hard to be believe in this day and age in Israel, the orthodox don't want women to speak, sing or even be seen. It is hard to believe that women want anything to do with the these religions. They must be terrified and for some not even know it. Note the stamp added to the picture by the vandals showing a symbol of a woman with a circle cross through on her and frankly covering her pelvis. Got misogyny?

From the Guardian:

Jerusalem's secular mayor, Nir Barkat, has pitted himself against the city's swelling ranks of ultra-orthodox extremists by demanding that local police enable women to reclaim their position in the public domain.

Over recent months, women's faces have disappeared from billboards across the city amid mounting pressure applied by the powerful ultra-orthodox lobby, who find the female image offensive.

Several advertisers have erased female models from their posters in Jerusalem. Elsewhere in Israel, the winter campaign of Israeli clothing brand Honigman features a model cosily dressed in winter knits. In the capital, the woman's head has been removed from the image, leaving just her arm and a handbag.

Companies that do not fall in line with the standards of the extreme ultra-orthodox have frequently fallen victim to direct action. Across Jerusalem, female figures have been blacked out of billboards with spray-paint, or vandalised with graffiti branding the image "illegal". Other posters are simply torn down.

On Sunday, Barkat wrote a letter to district police commander Niso Shaham in which he said: "We must make sure that those who want to advertise [with] women's images in the city can do so without fear of vandalism and defacement of billboards or buses showing women."

Police have confirmed an increase in vandalism on the borders of Jerusalem's closed ultra-orthodox neighbourhoods. Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said police would be stepping up patrols to prevent further acts of hooliganism and ensure it is investigated.

Rosenfeld added that despite being pelted with stones, police officers made several arrests in the orthodox Meah Shearim neighbourhood last week.

But activists claim the battle over Jerusalem's billboards is only one manifestation of an alarming trend towards gender segregation across Israel driven by the religious right.

Activist Hila Benyovich-Hoffman was spurred to take action by reports that nine male cadets in the Israeli Defence Force had walked out of an army event in September because women were singing. Four were expelled from an officer's training course for refusing to apologise.

"This was the final straw for me, that these cadets could humiliate female soldiers because some rabbi has told them that a woman's voice is indecent. The army used to be a source of pride because women served alongside men as equals. But more and more, rabbis are influencing army behaviour," Benyovich-Hoffman said.

She organised a series of demonstrations last Friday in which hundreds of women gathered for "singalongs" in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and Beersheva to demand their right to a public presence. She says much more needs to be done.

It is not just secular Israelis that have been moved to protest. Members of the Haredi ultra-orthodox community themselves are reporting a rise in assaults on women. One orthodox website reported this week that three orthodox girls had been physically attacked in Jerusalem for dressing immodestly.

The Israeli Religious Action Centre (IRAC) was founded more than a decade ago to take on the fight against gender segregation, which is illegal in Israel. They receive around four calls a day from mostly orthodox Jewish women complaining of segregation in medical centres, on pavements, in post offices, graveyards and, most often, on buses. The centre estimates that daily, between 500 and 600 bus journeys in Israel are segregated.

"I feel like a fire fighter – this issue spreads and spirals like a fire," saids the IRAC's director Anat Hofman. "But the fact that our case load is increasing is a good thing – it means more people are sensitive to the problem and are prepared to stand up against it."

Jerusalem's deputy mayor, Naomi Tsur, admits the situation is "deplorable" but also says that women's rights have never had a better chance of flourishing in Jerusalem. For decades until November 2008, under the leadership of an orthodox mayor, billboards featuring women simply weren't allowed in the city.

Tsur said: "We are talking about a very extreme group of people who don't recognise the authority of the city, the police, the government or the high court. It is critically important that we don't let this minority dominate."

Jesus Loves Little Boys

Leviticus 12:1-5
The LORD said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites: ‘A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding.

The mother is unclean twice as long if she has a girl. Jesus loves little boys this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little boys to him belong, they are weak, but he is strong.

Bible Voodoo

Recipe for biblical curse
  1. Holy Water
  2. Dirt from Temple floor
  3. Biblical ink, charcoal powder mixed with gum
In a sacred clay jar mix holy water with dirt. Write curse on scroll with biblical ink. Rinse scroll in the bowl until the curse has been washed off. Serve cold.

Serves 1 suspected adulterous woman

If a man suspects his wife has been unfaithful, he can take her and some barley flour to a priest. The priest takes the woman before the Lord, mixes holy water with dirt from the temple floor. This is the bitter water which brings a curse (booga-booga). After letting her hair down (isn't that sexual?), he puts a small part of the grain offering in her hand (keeps the rest for himself, payment for the curse). While holding the bitter water, he pronounces the curse. "When you drink this if you are innocent may no harm come to you. However if you are guilty, may your thighs waste away and your belly swell (an alternate translation says may you have a barren womb or a miscarrying womb) . boooga-booga.". She has to consent to it with an Amen.

Then the priest is to write down this curse on a scroll and wash it with the bitter water so it mixes in. He gives it to the woman to drink. It says it will cause bitter suffering regardless. The ingredients sounds pretty nasty and quite unsanitary. While she is experiencing this unpleasantry, the priest takes the grain she has been holding and waves it before the Lord (booga-booga). He then burns another small part of the grain before the Lord. There may be a second incident of having her drink the bitter water again or the bible is doing that redundant repeating thing. Who knows.

But you can imagine the whole state of affairs (pun intended) here. How stressed out the woman will be regardless of innocence. She is being publicly humiliated. Some husbands are real dicks. It really is about him and not her. But she is certainly sweating bullets under God's curse. You know afterwards everyone will be watching her like a hawk. They will be looking for any evidence of the curse. Depending upon the translation they will watch if her belly is swelling or if she has a miscarriage or cannot get pregnant. Do you think she wants to sleep with her bastard husband? However, she really would want to get pregnant to avoid shame. If her belly grows which happens in pregnancy how could they tell the difference between the two curses. Anyway, if they think the curse has come true you know the next step, stone her. So vile, so primitive. No wait it is the word of the almighty, all-perfect God. Booga, booga.

Funny there is no such curse for a jealous wife. Oh, that's right women are property.

Numbers 5:11-29
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him by sleeping with another man, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure—or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure— then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder offering to draw attention to guilt.

“‘The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the LORD. Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. After the priest has had the woman stand before the LORD, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, “If no other man has slept with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have defiled yourself by sleeping with a man other than your husband”— here the priest is to put the woman under this curse of the oath—“may the LORD cause your people to curse and denounce you when he causes your thigh to waste away and your abdomen to swell.** May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells and your thigh wastes away.**”

“‘Then the woman is to say, “Amen. So be it.”

“‘The priest is to write these curses on a scroll and then wash them off into the bitter water. He shall have the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and this water will enter her and cause bitter suffering. The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the LORD and bring it to the altar. The priest is then to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial offering and burn it on the altar; after that, he is to have the woman drink the water. If she has defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then when she is made to drink the water that brings a curse, it will go into her and cause bitter suffering; her abdomen will swell and her thigh waste away,** and she will become accursed among her people. If, however, the woman has not defiled herself and is free from impurity, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.

“‘This, then, is the law of jealousy when a woman goes astray and defiles herself while married to her husband, or when feelings of jealousy come over a man because he suspects his wife. The priest is to have her stand before the LORD and is to apply this entire law to her. The husband will be innocent of any wrongdoing, but the woman will bear the consequences of her sin.’”

Defiled Women

Deuteronomy 24: 1-4
If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, and if after she leaves his house she becomes the wife of another man, and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies, then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the LORD. Do not bring sin upon the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

Defiled property. If God was a woman....hmmmm.....

Wonder how many times this happened in ancient times to spend scripture time on it.

Bible's Opinion On Moral Women

Ecclesiastes 7:27-29
Look, says the Teacher, this is what I have discovered: Adding one thing to another to discover the scheme of things— while I was still searching but not finding— I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright woman among them all. This only have I found: God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes.
