Indonesia Entering The Dark Ages?

Millions of children in Indonesian elementary schools may no longer have separate science classes starting in June, the beginning of their next school year, if the government approves a curriculum overhaul that would merge science and social studies with other classes so more time can be devoted to religious education.

Officials who back the changes say that more religious instruction is needed because a lack of moral development has led to an increase in violence and vandalism among youths, and that could fuel social unrest and corruption in the future.

Indonesia is a Muslim-majority country with a secular government that recognizes the rights of six different faiths, including Catholicism, Protestantism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Confucianism.

Religion is taught to students according to their own faiths, meaning that Muslim students are instructed in Islam, while Christian students study Christianity in separate classes. Reflecting the country’s demographics, most religious instruction is Islamic.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs, which advises the Education Ministry, is proposing that religious education be increased to four hours a week from two. It will remain a compulsory subject, along with mathematics, arts and crafts, physical education, Indonesian language and civics.

I am still debating a religious person with an Islam vision how Charles Darwin was one sick person and that is why Darwin came up with this crazy little lucerfian thing called evolution. I have pointed out that even this Muslim's religious heros were sinners, but that bounces off him like bullets against superman, another imaginary super-hero like his god.

Anyway, he has turned the conversation to how poor ID/creationists are persecuted. This brought up a study I wanted to do many months ago. As far as I know the worst that has happened in this day and age is a creationist lost their job at a university. However, during the age of enlightenment, many real scientist such as Bruno were tortured and killed. Bruno, showing the earth revolved around the sun, was rewarded with being stripped naked, gagged, tied to a wooden stake and burned alive by the religious. I have asked Muslim to provide one example where a science organization has done the same to an ID/creationist. Science is international and is built on consensus. Religion is local and built on divergence (30k + different denominations/religions). Science wants to be questioned. Religion does not.

In looking for true examples of persecution I found the relatively modern example of Alan Turing, an English scientist and a homosexual, who for the latter was given the option to go to prison or chemically castrate himself. He chose the later to be able to continue doing scientific research. It really shows how sick humans can be to each other. All this homophobic rage in the U.S. and elsewhere just pulls back the curtain on their agenda via this example. They pretend they wouldn't do such things. But I think it is clear once in power they would. The bible says to stone homosexuals and they say we wouldn't do that. But if their holy book says yes and they freely pick and choose from the Old Testament, why wouldn't they?

Muslims in the Khanewal district, Punjab Province in Pakistan have ordered 250 Christian families to move out of town. The reason Muslim men are sexually assaulting Christian women and the Christian leaders have protested too much.

Also a Christian couple might be facing life imprisonment because of blasphemy according to some Muslim accusers.

Well, that is what you get when you regard yourself and those like you to be superior, which religions, particularly monotheistic religions do in grandeur.

It reminded me of the great Star Trek show with Frank Gorshin called Let That Be Your Last Battlefield. If you haven't seen it or would like a refresher it is below (50 minutes). It is a story of racism where only the people involved can see the difference. Muslims and Christians are literally brothers. They are Abraham's kids.
