Why Is America So Religious

How odd it is that Americans are so religious when we are the leading country in science? So many within the country think science is of the devil or is false or is illogically another faith. Yet other democratic countries in Europe are less religious and accept science for the reality it is. Countries that don't take care of their people tend to be more religious. As Americans we feel people should take care of themselves, you are on your own. Bumper stickers are calling anyone who believes the government should help people are Communist or Fascist. We also tend to honor those who have little education and yet hit the lottery and are able to build a successful business. It seems to me these two factors have lead people in the U.S. to need God. Churches also fill the gap and assist people in trouble thus making it easier to evangelize. In Europe they believe the government is theirs to help people in need and actually does so. Therefore, their population doesn't have such a need for God. If only Americans cared for their fellow Americans and saw the government as our government and not the enemy.

  1. I think we lead in science because universities are able to attract grad students from foreign countries where science is valued but their labor isn't. After exploiting them and churning out research, we congratulate ourselves on how smart we are, but when you look at the students below the graduate student level, it's a whole different picture
