Save The Children by Teaching Them Evolution

The non-profit organization Save The Children has reported its 2011 Mothers' Index comparing the well-being of mothers and children in 164 countries with Norway at the top and Afghanistan at the bottom. The United States is 31st.

The report relies on information published by governments, research institutions and international agencies.

For the countries at the bottom life is grim, lack of clean water, limited education, few skilled health professionals, limited modern birth control methods. A typical Norwegian woman will have 18 years of education, live to be 83 and have a 1 in 175 chance of losing a child before its 5th birthday. The typical Afghanistan woman will have less than 5 years of education, will die before she is 45 and have a 1 in 5 chance of losing her child before its 5th birthday meaning nearly every mother will experience this.

Why didn't the United States rank higher
- Maternal mortality is 1 in 2,100 - the highest in any industrialized nation.
- Under 5 mortality is 8 in 1,000 births. 40 countries performed better.
- 58% of children in the US are enrolled in preschool, the 5th lowest country in the developed world.
- the least generous maternity leave policy in terms of duration and maternity leave policy of any wealthy nation.
- the US is also lagging behind with regard to the political status of women. Only 17% of congress are held by women, while Sweden is 45% and Iceland 43%

Isn't it interesting how the belief in evolution and the well-being of mother's and children correlate? The U.S. is still ahead of the fundamentalist Turkey. They rank 55.

To understand evolution a child will have to be introduced to many of the sciences and have a civilized society with clean water and health care. It introduces the cause and development of diseases and also provide the path to cures. It opens up the world instead of keeping it closed in primitive views of the world. Praying isn't enough. It doesn't make up for ignorance.

National Day Of Prayer or Cinco De Mayo

The God Vine website has a video for What Would Happen If We Didn't Pray to God with the subtext of
National Day of Prayer is coming on May 5th, but we should pray to our Lord every single day. This video dramatically shows what the world would be like if we stopped praying. Let's never stop and never give up.
After seeing the video with its ominous music for affect, I think it will be just a cloudy, rainy day if we don't pray. Not too bad. We do need rain as everyone says. But what is it with this God? Is he the stereotypical Jewish mother? What? You don't call your mother? You will hear about it forever, all this bitching and moaning. What is it with this God who is all powerful, all knowing, all loving who gets petty and annoyed that we don't pray to him? Wouldn't he just be happy if we were happy enjoying each others company and a corona? Instead of staring down at us arms folded he should just join in and have some fun with us. Such a party-pooper. Dude, lighten up.

Happy Cinco De Mayo for those who care to join in.

Which Is More Likely?

Is it more probable that nature should go out of her course, or that a man should tell a lie?

We have never seen, in our time, nature go out of her course; but we have good reason to believe that millions of lies have been told in the same time; it is, therefore, at least millions to one, that the reporter of a miracle tells a lie... Instead, therefore, of admitting the recitals of miracles as evidence of any system of religion being true, they ought to be considered as symptoms of its being fabulous.

Religious Child Abuse?

No child is born with a knowledge of Moses, Paul or Jesus. No child is born with a knowledge of Allah or Zeus or Mithras or any other god you can name. Their mind is empty on the subject. The are born with no religion. They must be taught this. How do you instill something so foreign and make sure it sticks for the rest of their life and be willing to teach their children so. It has to be a powerful meme. Our strongest memories are based on emotion. It has been found that when adrenaline runs through our brain it burns in a memory for a much longer period of time. It is important to remember things that could harm us and this is how natural selection rewarded those animals who would recall and avoid.

So eventually religion came in and it was quite simplistic. But the ones that survived were the ones most frightening. Satan roams the earth devouring little children. You need to be protected. Hmmm.... Let's call this one Jesus who protects you and if you don't listen to him you will be eaten by the devil who is under your bed. You will feel unbelievable pain forever if you don't believe in this one called Jesus who endured so much for you, you ingrate. You need to be like sheep and children and not think any doubtful thoughts. Jesus is your guardian. While you were born with no feelings for this one or even able to see him, you must now accept and know and feel him as the one who can save you. While out in nature you may see no evidence that is only because Satan is trying to trick you and/or God is trying to test you. Because you cannot see god in nature, we will tear down nature and will build monstrous churches with high spirals that say LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME. Look there and go inside and see the monstrous church interior. See a graven image of Jesus hanging on the cross. See the horrors of hell in drawings. Torture your mind until you are repent.

Sound like child abuse to you?

Christianity Defined

Christianity:
The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Makes perfect sense.

Mankind Asked - Religion's Reply

Religion is not the hero of the day, but the zero.

In any exposition of the products of brains, the Sunday-School takes the booby prize.

Man has asked for truth and the Church has given him miracles.
He has asked for knowledge, and the Church has given him theology.
He has asked for facts, and the Church has given him the Bible.

This foolishness should stop. The Church has nothing to give man that has not been in cold storage for two thousand years. Anything would become stale in that time.

Who Is Worse - The Father Or The Son?

There are many Christians who are embarrassed by the Old Testament and rightly so. It is a vile piece of collection of books. Such a vile angry God and then it contains the driest material every known in literature. All the this "so and so begat so and so" surrounded by truly lame stories.

Marcion was one of the first Christians to attempt to canonize the books of the Christian Bible. He didn't include any books in what we now know as the Old Testament. He was embarrassed by them. They are quite barbaric. But the problem is the authors of the the books now in the New Testament quoted the Old Testament to prove Jesus. So, ultimately they were stuck with keeping it and could not find a good way to demote it to a lesser god.

Christians don't want to think this God of the OT was this same Jesus, but for those who promoted him to God they have to accept that. The Jehovah Witnesses got around it by denying Jesus' divinity. All Christians pick and choose over the rubble of the New Testament for just the "happy" messages. But was Jesus that good? The god of the OT was always going about picking stubborn people who wouldn't listen to him so He could punish the heck out of them. You think this god would be smart but he just hasn't got the brain power to realize what he is doing. Why would an all-powerful & all-knowing god create a stubborn and defective product to only get mad at the product? He should be mad at himself for doing such a crappy job. Anyway, Christians avoid this, don't read the OT and say spend your time reading the NT. It is much better. OT God - bad. NT God - good.

NOT.

Jesus truly is the Son Of God of the Old Testament. The OT god said keep it in your pants, but the NT God said even if you think it you are JUST AS GUILTY. So controlling your behavior is worthless? The Old Testament god punished you in this world. You screw up, you would be harassed, have to endure exile and disease and then die. Not good enough for the NT god. He will torture you infinitely in a new place called hell. Jesus blew it out of the park. He had to go international and set up a special place with the utmost horrors, a protracted war against evil people. I am thinking the Daddy was better than the Son, kind of like a father/son president set we had in our unfortunate recent history.

Here is the NT god's embellishment of a place called hell unlike the OT god's sheol where you just died:

"But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever shall say to his brother, 'Raca,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever shall say, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell." (Matthew 5:22)

"And if your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out, and throw it from you; for it is better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell." (Matthew 5:29)

"And if your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off, and throw it from you; for it is better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to go into hell." (Matthew 5:30)

"And do not fear those who kill the body, but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)

"And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out, and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into the fiery hell." (Matthew 18:9)

"You serpents, you brood of vipers, how shall you escape the sentence of hell?" (Matthew 23:33)

"And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire," (Mark 9:43)

"And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than having your two feet, to be cast into hell," (Mark 9:45)

"And if your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into hell," (Mark 9:47)

"But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who after He has killed has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!" (Luke 12:5)

And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell. (James 3:6)

TN House Votes for Stupidity

The Tennessee House of Representatives in a 70-28 vote (bill HR 0368 text) on April 7, 2011 encourages teachers to promote woo-woo without fear of reprisal. You know they won't teach astrology which this could cover but creationism (un-intelligent design - wink, wink), a baseless myth. This applies to kindergarden to seniors in high school students. Make them dumb while their young. The bill specifically called out biological evolution, the chemical origins of life, global warming and human cloning, but it also lies by saying it shall not be construed to promote or discriminate against any religious or non-religious doctrine. If I were a teacher I would start teach new age witchcraft. That would be a laugh.

There is no scientific controversy on evolution or global warming. Just religious nuts who are blinded by their fairy tales.

Louisiana in 2008 passed a similar law so that teachers could teach students religious anti-evolution bullshit.

The Tennessee Senate has before it an identical bill, SB 0893 which is most likely to be passed at the end of this month and Governor Bill Haslam will sign it into law.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Human Separation

When we look at human similarities, we see the differences.

When we look at human differences we see the similarities.

I went to the DC National Zoo this past week with my granddaughter. It was exciting for me since I hadn't been there in a decade or so. I used to take my kids there all the time when they were young. My excitement was to see the great apes. In the past I went as a Christian and saw these as lower forms of life, only to be dominated. Now I was going there without being befuddled by believing that in all the universe this speck of dust called Earth was God's primary focus and humans were is only concern and all His attention was on me and my body fluids. Now I went to see the similarities of all apes, of which I am but one branch from our common ancestor. I had the fortune of going when there was a nursing Gorilla. I watched the similarities as she cared for her young one, just like we humans do. I sat there watching her as she sat there with her young one right next to her watching us. It was both beautiful and sad. I wished we humans would be open to all life and not just the one within the WALLS of our home and malls with all more and more stuff to accumulate to fill an empty hole. What is more grand than nature itself. I live in the country and just love to sit outside on a nice sunny day and watch the show. There was another gorilla who had his back to the glass and I could see his body and bone structure and marvel at how similar it was to my own. Head, ears, arms, elbows, legs, knees, spinal chord, hands, flat fingernails, thumbs; and also curiosity, excitement, playfulness, sadness, boredom. I wondered how humans were so self-centered that they thought we were so different. How did they conceived that we were so much better. How brilliant Darwin was to not look at the differences but saw the similarities tying them together in such a wonderful way. Seeing things as they are. Living in life, not separate from it.

Genesis 1:26
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
It was a very satisfying trip. I want to be back there now and just observe.

Percy Faith A Summer's Place

This song brings back thoughts of my childhood. It is a beautiful piece of music.

Percy Faith (April 7, 1908 – February 9, 1976) was a Canadian-born bandleader, orchestrator and composer, known for his lush arrangements of pop and Christmas standards. He is credited with creating the "easy listening" or "mood music" format which became staples of American popular music in the 1950s and continued well into the 1960s. Though his professional orchestra-leading career began at the height of the swing era, Faith refined and rethought orchestration techniques, including use of large string sections, to soften and fill out the brass dominated popular music of the 1940s.

Ray Comfort Gets Schooled In Evolution

The depth of Ray Comfort's ignorance of evolution is really shown here even though he acts like an expert. This is part 7 of a 9 part series. I like this one the best. You can see how important it is to Ray to change the subject because he knows he is losing the argument. He also has to use his language and frame the discussion in BuyBull-speak. He is lost otherwise.

Rachmaninov - Prelude in C sharp minor

Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninov (1 April 1873 [O.S. 20 March] – 28 March 1943 was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. He was considered one of the finest pianists of his day and, as a composer, very nearly the last great representative of Russian late Romanticism in classical music.

In his early years, he showed great skill in composition. While still a student, he wrote the one-act opera, Aleko, for which he was awarded a gold medal in composition, his First Piano Concerto, and a set of piano pieces, Morceaux de fantaisie (Op. 3, 1892), which includes this famous Prelude in C sharp minor. The composer later became annoyed by the public's fascination with this piece, composed when he was 19 years old. He would often tease an expectant audience in the days when it was traditional for the audience to request particular compositions, by asking, "Oh, must I?" or claiming inability to remember anything else.

Perhaps he would have enjoyed Harpo's take on the piece.

Get Out While You Can

God reached his hand down from the sky
He flooded the land then he set it on fire
He said, "Fear me again. Know I'm your father.
Remember that no one can breathe underwater"

So bend your knees and bow your heads
Save your babies, here's your future
Yeah, here's your future

God reached his hand down from the sky
God asked Noah if he wanted to die
He said no sir
Oh, no, sir

God said here's your future
It's going to rain
So we're packing our things
We're building a boat
Where God will create the new master race
Cause we're so pure
Oh, we're so pure
So here's your future

God told his son it's time to come home
I promise you won't have to die all alone
I need you to pay for the sins I create
His son said, "I will but Dad, I'm afriad"

Yeah, so here's your future
Here's your future
Yeah, here's your future
So here's your future
So here's your future
So here's your future

Here's what the band, the Themals, had to say about the album:

According to a press release, "The lyrics envision a United States governed by a fascist Christian state, and focus on the need (and means) to escape. While hardly a concept album, there is definitely a story told in the songs: a story about getting the fuck OUT while you still can."

Jesus Loves Little Boys

Leviticus 12:1-5
The LORD said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites: ‘A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding.

The mother is unclean twice as long if she has a girl. Jesus loves little boys this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little boys to him belong, they are weak, but he is strong.

Source Of Evil

Christians say on the one hand God is all-powerful, all-knowing, the first cause of all things, but yet he is not responsible for evil.

Please ignore this text and if you don't it doesn't mean what it says.
Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things"

Most Christians hate the idea of predestination, that before birth God has determined whether we are heaven or hell bound. Calvin proposed this idea but he was not the first, but it became associated with him and thus it is called Calvinism. Much like Darwin, he was not the first or only one who proposed evolution, but he became associated with it, thus we say Darwinism. Both these gentlemen made great cases for their respective ideas.

I grew up in an American birthed church, the Seventh-day Adventist, that taught predestination was wrong. When I set all that behind me I had to put aside the Bible for years because I could not read it without that strong coloring. I had to spend years throwing off all the shame they had put upon me.

Now finally and gratefully I can read the Bible without all that crap. And you know the more I read the more I see Calvin was very consistent with scripture. It is like fishing in a barrel to find scripture to support predestination. A sinner cannot come to God except God draws him. We are born with an evil, vile nature. None seek God, no NOT ONE. We would never come to God. It is impossible to be saved by ourselves, but with God all things are possible. Now please don't forget that though he created us he is not responsible for evil. Satan is probably the one and even though Satan created something God did not, Satan is not a god, he is just a creature. Well, it gets circular after awhile and the head spins so let's just say it is irrational and absurd but that is what makes it true. LOL.

You don't run into many Calvinist here in the U.S. or rather I haven't. Most Christians poo-poo it. "No TULIPs for me". Despite it being totally consistent with scripture, they have invented the non-scriptural concept of free-will. It is interesting it is very American concept, you can do anything you want. Born in sin, screw it, if you set your mind to anything, you can make it happen.

Otherwise what is the point of prayer?

Any smuck with a two-dollar prayer book can disrupt the divine plan and here is where I propose the source of evil. Evil does not exist because of God, but rather because He is such a push over. When it comes to His kids He will give them whatever they want. One says make it rain, the other says make it stop. No wonder the weathermen cannot get this right. One prays for his enemies forgiveness, the other prays for their punishment. It is all quite confusing BUT it is never God's fault. He is ONLY trying to help and that is why the world is chaotic and some people think their prayers were not answered when they were, just someone trumped it immediately afterwards. You know God just gives and gives and gives and we humans just take and take and take. And due to God building passive-aggressiveness, one day he will explode as expected and send nearly everyone to hell. See now doesn't that all make sense? No? Hey they can make up shit, why can't I? Try it for yourself, it is fun. It really doesn't have to be consistent with what the contradictory scripture says, but I bet you can find text that support your idea. Everyone else does.

See here is my supporting text
Matthew 17:20
(Jesus) replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

John 14:13-14 (aka the carrot)
And I (Jesus) will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Ex-Hindu Dodges The Christian Bullet

I have been looking around the web for atheist vs non-Christian debates. You can find lots of Christian vs atheist debates. I happened upon this Hindu and his experience of deconversion. A key point in it is he prayed to Hindu gods for what he wanted and of course he would make happen, and when they happened he gave thanks to those Hindu gods. Isn't that odd? Don't you think Jehovah/Jesus would prevent those prayers from coming true just to give himself the glory. He really has a big ego that needs stroking. This would really help him get the praise he wants.

Ex-Hindu follows here.

I had written a letter to the webmaster regarding my Hindu background and the subsequent detachment from it. The webmaster was kind enough to publish it too, but I was not a registered member then, nor did I place the message in the correct forum. So here is another go at it.

I was born in India in a Hindu family and I belonged to the so-called highest caste – the Brahmins. For the benefit of those who don’t know, Hinduism splits its followers into four groups (or classes or castes) – Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vysyas, and Sudras. Brahmins are the preachers, teachers, mathematicians, scientists, and the defenders of the faith. In short, they are the erudite and the elite class. Please understand that such distinction no longer exists. Whatever I said was true only in the past. Kshatriyas are the warriors. Kings and Generals belonged to this class. Vysyas are the business people and Sudras (pronounced shoe-druhs) are the people of the lowest class. I feel terribly guilty even describing this atrocious divisive nature of Hinduism and assure you that I do not harbor any such distinction myself.

When I came to the U.S. fifteen years back, as a masters student in mechanical engineering, a crusader (from Campus Crusade for Christ) asked me if I was saved. Don’t get me wrong. My English has always been pretty decent, but this question totally baffled me and I had no clue as to what it meant! When I found out, I was taken aback. Usually such a question was followed by what Hinduism stood for. Quite frankly, though I was a Hindu for 23 years by then, I had never really given much thought to that specific question. You see, I just lived as a Hindu along with a large majority of people just like me. Never needed to explain about my belief to anybody.

Did I believe in the Hindu gods? You bet. Come on, level with me here. If you prayed to these gods all your life and have sought them for personal favors, of which every one was granted, wouldn’t you believe? I wanted to be first in my school in the statewide exam in tenth grade. Not only was I first in school, I was first in the entire district. Then I wanted to do mechanical engineering in a particular, well reputed, engineering school. Wish granted. After graduating, I wanted a job. I got one in a campus interview, even before finishing school. I wanted, oh, this I wanted sooooo badly, to come to America. Granted. It seemed like my gods were right there watching over me and granting anything I wished for. And so, when Christians came to me thumping their bibles and claiming that my gods were not gods and that the Judeo-Christian god was the only true god, I was terribly offended. More on this later.

Then I visited an Indian friend in Pittsburgh. His grandfather, an old man in his seventies, broached the subject of religion. You see, until then I thought old people, due to their proximity to death, believed in religion a lot more than the younger ones. So I bragged to him about how I knew many chapters of the Bhagavadgita by heart. I surely thought the old man would be impressed. Instead, he asked me if I knew this particular verse in Gita, in which, Krishna promises that he will take an avatar anytime righteousness (dharma) goes down and unrighteousness (adharma) comes up. I said yes. Then he asked if that were the case how come He never showed up when Hitler killed millions of Jews. Huh! My jaw dropped. I was speechless.

In the mean time, my now brother-in-law (I was dating his sister then) had gotten saved from Jainism (an offshoot of Hinduism and very fundamental in its beliefs). He is the valedictorian in high school kind of guy - very intelligent, and a voracious reader. As a fresh convert, his passion was to take the word of god to the nonbelievers and debate with them with gusto. So, one day he picked up a debate with me. Initially it was decent, with exchange of ideas back and forth, but then one statement, a very strong statement, changed the entire course of the debate, and for that matter, my religious life. “There is not a single discrepancy or contradiction in the Bible.” And I was like, hey, wait a minute. Let me read the damn bible before I respond to that. He suggested that I read the book of John. I said, as an engineer, I am more methodical; so let me read from the beginning. Genesis.

He was glad to present me with a good bible and I started to read Genesis. No sooner did I start than I ran into this controversial claim from god that the day Adam or Eve ate from the tree, they shall certainly die. I read further and found that they ate, but did not die. Gotcha! Interestingly, there was a footnote in that wonderful bible. It said that the statement was not a contradiction because Adam and Eve did die, a ‘spiritual’ death, not a ‘physical’ death. I was like, what?!?! Further reading brought out many similar problems in the bible, but as you might have guessed, my brother-in-law had an answer for everything.

Well, once it occurred to me that the Christians will “explain” away any blatant contradiction or, for that matter, anything ridiculous, such as god stopping the earth, I asked myself if I was guilty of the same in my defense of Hindu gods and their stories. Lo and behold! I was.

So I suspended all my beliefs and examined things more critically. Now, ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to call myself an atheist. And, that is my story.

The Child Is Always The Victim

Countless children suffer at the hands of adults. Many of us have powerful feelings in this regard, especially those of us that were abused as children. We want our children to not go through the same or for that matter anyone else's child. Our minds are blown with disbelief when we hear reports of child abuse. The toughest men will cry. We know that children are trusting and want to think the best of those who should take care of them. They will defend their parent in spite of any and all abuse. They wish their parent no harm and love them. We detest priests who have abused innocent kids. In ALL CASES the child is the victim and not the adult. There are twisted people who attempt to persuade otherwise, but we know better. There is no justification for an adult to harm a child, to put them in harms' way or neglect them.

And yet, and yet, the religious accept a god who does such things. He is the Father and we are His children and yet ...... This is truly shameful.

Happy Birthday Vivaldi -- incomplete --

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (March 4, 1678 – July 28, 1741), nicknamed il Prete Rosso ("The Red Priest"), was a Venetian Baroque composer, priest, and famous virtuoso violinist. He was born and raised in the Republic of Venice. The Four Seasons, a popular series of four violin concerti, is his best-known work. His other compositions include over 500 instrumental concertos, sacred choral works and over 40 operas.

Here is the 4 seasons. Most likely the first few notes you will recognize. Very delightful.

Bible Voodoo

Recipe for biblical curse
  1. Holy Water
  2. Dirt from Temple floor
  3. Biblical ink, charcoal powder mixed with gum
In a sacred clay jar mix holy water with dirt. Write curse on scroll with biblical ink. Rinse scroll in the bowl until the curse has been washed off. Serve cold.

Serves 1 suspected adulterous woman

If a man suspects his wife has been unfaithful, he can take her and some barley flour to a priest. The priest takes the woman before the Lord, mixes holy water with dirt from the temple floor. This is the bitter water which brings a curse (booga-booga). After letting her hair down (isn't that sexual?), he puts a small part of the grain offering in her hand (keeps the rest for himself, payment for the curse). While holding the bitter water, he pronounces the curse. "When you drink this if you are innocent may no harm come to you. However if you are guilty, may your thighs waste away and your belly swell (an alternate translation says may you have a barren womb or a miscarrying womb) . boooga-booga.". She has to consent to it with an Amen.

Then the priest is to write down this curse on a scroll and wash it with the bitter water so it mixes in. He gives it to the woman to drink. It says it will cause bitter suffering regardless. The ingredients sounds pretty nasty and quite unsanitary. While she is experiencing this unpleasantry, the priest takes the grain she has been holding and waves it before the Lord (booga-booga). He then burns another small part of the grain before the Lord. There may be a second incident of having her drink the bitter water again or the bible is doing that redundant repeating thing. Who knows.

But you can imagine the whole state of affairs (pun intended) here. How stressed out the woman will be regardless of innocence. She is being publicly humiliated. Some husbands are real dicks. It really is about him and not her. But she is certainly sweating bullets under God's curse. You know afterwards everyone will be watching her like a hawk. They will be looking for any evidence of the curse. Depending upon the translation they will watch if her belly is swelling or if she has a miscarriage or cannot get pregnant. Do you think she wants to sleep with her bastard husband? However, she really would want to get pregnant to avoid shame. If her belly grows which happens in pregnancy how could they tell the difference between the two curses. Anyway, if they think the curse has come true you know the next step, stone her. So vile, so primitive. No wait it is the word of the almighty, all-perfect God. Booga, booga.

Funny there is no such curse for a jealous wife. Oh, that's right women are property.

Numbers 5:11-29
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him by sleeping with another man, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure—or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure— then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder offering to draw attention to guilt.

“‘The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the LORD. Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. After the priest has had the woman stand before the LORD, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, “If no other man has slept with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have defiled yourself by sleeping with a man other than your husband”— here the priest is to put the woman under this curse of the oath—“may the LORD cause your people to curse and denounce you when he causes your thigh to waste away and your abdomen to swell.** May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells and your thigh wastes away.**”

“‘Then the woman is to say, “Amen. So be it.”

“‘The priest is to write these curses on a scroll and then wash them off into the bitter water. He shall have the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and this water will enter her and cause bitter suffering. The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the LORD and bring it to the altar. The priest is then to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial offering and burn it on the altar; after that, he is to have the woman drink the water. If she has defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then when she is made to drink the water that brings a curse, it will go into her and cause bitter suffering; her abdomen will swell and her thigh waste away,** and she will become accursed among her people. If, however, the woman has not defiled herself and is free from impurity, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.

“‘This, then, is the law of jealousy when a woman goes astray and defiles herself while married to her husband, or when feelings of jealousy come over a man because he suspects his wife. The priest is to have her stand before the LORD and is to apply this entire law to her. The husband will be innocent of any wrongdoing, but the woman will bear the consequences of her sin.’”

Happy Birthday Widor

Charles-Marie Jean Albert Widor (February 21, 1844 – March 12, 1937) was a French organist, composer and teacher.

There are few French classical composers and fewer that I like, but Widor is a big exception. His Toccata from his 5th Organ Symphony is incredible. I have had the pleasure of hearing it in a big church with fantastic acoustics. Mind blowing. Watching this video strikes me that is sounds more complicated than it is. However, that doesn't take away even 1 second of pleasure. I never get tired of hearing it. Brilliant.

Defiled Women

Deuteronomy 24: 1-4
If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, and if after she leaves his house she becomes the wife of another man, and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies, then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the LORD. Do not bring sin upon the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

Defiled property. If God was a woman....hmmmm.....

Wonder how many times this happened in ancient times to spend scripture time on it.

Did Obama Become The AntiChrist?

Jack Van Impe, in the video below, predicted on 2/9/2009 that Obama will be the anti-christ and control the whole world, the new world order. All will worship him. Van Impe has NEVER seen anything like this. He is quite delighted with his prediction from almost 30 years ago in his book "11:59 And Counting!" that we would see someday see economic collapse (like that is so hard to predict). He quotes the Bible that the antichrist will come from the west. Wouldn't China from the east be a better choice since the U.S. owes China trillions of dollars, they are better positioned to control the whole world? Rexella, his cohost and wife, is such a bobble head.

So two years have passed since Van Impe made this prediction. With the turn over in Congress Obama is more slipping than gaining ground and I don't see any countries asking Obama to be their king. Van Impe prediction - fail.

He also quotes the Bible that says at the end of the world (NOW!!) people with throw away their gold and silver.

Ezekiel 7:9
They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be an unclean thing. Their silver and gold will not be able to save them in the day of the LORD’s wrath

You know how they have warnings on cigarette packs and also on side affects of drugs. I think this Bible text should be aired with every buy gold commercial on Fox. Side affects may be the Lord's wrath will devalue this product.

Bible's Opinion On Moral Women

Ecclesiastes 7:27-29
Look, says the Teacher, this is what I have discovered: Adding one thing to another to discover the scheme of things— while I was still searching but not finding— I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright woman among them all. This only have I found: God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes.

Who'd Wanna Be Such A Control Freak

Woke up this morning and it seemed to me,
that every night turns out to be
A little more like Bukowski.
And yeah, I know he's a pretty good read.
But God who'd wanna be?
God who'd wanna be such an asshole?
God who'd wanna be?
God who'd wanna be such an asshole?

Well we sat on the edge of the river,
the crowd screamed, "Sacrifice the liver!"
If God takes life, he's an Indian giver.
So tell me now why, you'll tell me never.
Who would wanna be?
Who would wanna be such a control freak?
Well who would wanna be?
Who would wanna be such a control freak?

Well see what you wanna see. You should see it all.
Well take what you want from me. You deserve it all.
Nine times out of ten our hearts just get dissolved.
Well I want a better place or just a better way to fall.

But one time out of ten, everything is perfect for us all.
Well I want a better place or just a better way to fall.
Here we go!

If God controls the land and disease,
keeps a watchful eye on me,
If he's really so damn mighty,
my problem is I can't see,
well who would wanna be?
Who would wanna be such a control freak?
Well who would wanna be?
Who would wanna be such a control freak?

Evil home stereo, what good songs do you know?
Evil me, oh yeah I know, what good curves can you throw?

Well all that icing and all that cake,
I can't make it to your wedding, but I'm sure I'll be at your wake.
You were talk, talk, talk, talkin' in circles that day,
when you get to the point make sure that I'm still awake, OK?

Went to bed and didn't see
why every day turns out to be
a little bit more like Bukowski.
And yeah, I know he's a pretty good read.
But God who'd wanna be?
God who'd wanna be such an asshole?

Bible contradictions - The Nephilim

The Bible is full of contradictions because it is a patchwork of sacred text. Here is one. The people of God encountered the Nephilim (KJV:Giants) before and after the flood. So not every living thing was destroyed by the flood as the Bible says.

Genesis 6:1-8
When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

This text is well after the flood. The children of Israel are getting ready to enter the promise land but are afraid of the Nephilim.

Numbers 13:32-33
And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

Happy Birthday Mendelssohn

Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, born, and generally known in English-speaking countries, as Felix Mendelssohn (February 3, 1809 – November 4, 1847) was a German composer, pianist, organist and conductor of the early Romantic period.

He was very talented and even wrote his first symphony at age 15. He was an extremely prolific writer and suffered poor health in his later years by overwork. He died at the age of 38 after a series of strokes.

The grandson of the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn, he was born into a notable Jewish family, although he himself was brought up initially without religion, and later as a Lutheran Christian.

His Violin Concerto in E Minor, Op. 64 with violinist Isaac Stern
